Five Takeaways From the Heat-Suns Game

The Miami Heat found themselves in another battle in the NBA bubble during its restart season against Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. In a game where high scoring and big moments were on display, here are my five takeaways from the Heat-Suns game.

5. Tyler Herro’s first double-double: Heat rookie Tyler Herro stepped up in the starting rotation when fellow rookie Kendrick Nunn temporarily left the NBA bubble due to personal matters. Herro was big for Miami, recording his first double-double of 25 points and 10 assists. Herro showed flashes of just how great he could be in any role, whether it was coming off the bench or proving his worth in a starting role.

4. Duncan gets 1000 points: Another Heat guard, Duncan Robinson, also put up some numbers for the Heat, but not only that, Robinson would reach the 1000 point mark in his NBA career. Usually known for his three-point prowess, showed his versatility on offense, from knocking down mid-range shots to attacking the rim.

3. Running of the Suns: The Heat looked to set the tone in the contest against the Suns, which looked promising at first, until Phoenix decided to have their way with the Heat’s defense. Phoenix made 16 fast-break points against the Heat, harkening back to the seven seconds or less mantra from the days of Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, and Amar’e Stoudemire.

2. Who is Jevon Carter?: If you didn’t know who Jevon Carter was before the Heat-Suns game, now you do. Carter was something of a Heat killer, knocking down a plethora of three pointers, including some of the corner. Carter looked impressive on the court with the likes of Devin Booker as part of the Suns backcourt.

1.Cold Blooded Booker: Devin Booker continues to prove that he is more than just an all-star and that his game far exceeds him. Most notable for his buzzer beating win over the L.A. Clippers, Booker provided more of the same killer offense. It seemed like no one was able to guard Booker, who continued getting baskets down the stretch. If the Suns remain undefeated throughout the restart season, they could make a splash for the 8th seed in the Western Conference.

For the Suns, Devin Booker led the way with 35 points, Jevon Carter had 20 points, Cameron Johnson made 14 points, Mikail Bridges and Dario Saric had 10 points each, plus DeAndre Ayton with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Heat, Duncan Robinson made 25 points, Bam Adebayo had 18 points, Jae Crowder with 17 points, Andre Iguodala with 12 points, and Tyler Herro with a double-double of 25 points and 10 assists.

Monday night will be a big main event as the highly anticipated match between the Heat and the Indiana Pacers face off. Game starts at 8 and will be televised on Sun Sports and NBA League Pass.
