The NBA Draft being cancelled and why the NBA shouldn’t reopen training camps.

The NBA announced that the 2020 Draft will be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. While that may be precautious at best, the NBA Draft and its draft lottery should be done virtually. Last month’s NFL Draft, which was held virtually, was a success in its own right and garnered a lot of views. For the NBA, it should take a chance on going virtual with the draft lottery and the draft itself, considering how many are missing sports-related events.

While on the subject of sports-related events, the NBA are considering reopening training camps for all 30 teams. Though it seem like the right thing to do, a second wave of the coronavirus isn’t too far off, which can prevent training camps from happening altogether. No one knows when the lockdown or the pandemic will end, but for the meanwhile, the NBA should stand pat with trying to reopen training camps, and look into doing a virtual draft lottery and draft altogether.
