Heat Fall Hard Against Knicks

The Miami Heat ended their road trip on a low note at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. After dropping a loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers, they would do the same against the Knicks on a back to back. Though the Knicks would lose Kristaps Porzingis (pronounced Kris-taps Por-zing-gis), they did not allow that to hinder them as they would take full control over the Heat throughout the contest.

The Heat shot for 38 percent from the field and their defense was tepid throughout the game. In addition, they were 26 percent behind the three point line. These numbers are a far cry from what they had produced the last three games before their blowout loss to the Cavaliers.  In addition, the Heat would also be without Hassan Whiteside, who sat out thanks to lingering knee soreness.

The New York Knicks took advantage of Whiteside’s absence in the paint as Enes Kanter (pronounced E-ness Can-ter) led the charge for them. The Knicks made 60 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point line. New York would also get more second chance points than the Heat.

For the Miami Heat, Kelly Olynyk had 18 points, Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson made 13 points each, and Dion Waiters scored 10 points.

For the New York Knicks, Courtney Lee scored 17 points, Doug McDermott and Tim Hardaway Jr. made 12 points each, and Enes Kanter with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Heat head back home for the weekend for two games against the Charlotte Hornets and the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. The Hornets come to Miami, and that game starts Friday at 7:30pm and will be televised locally on Sun Sports and nationally on NBA League Pass.
