The Odds of Winning NBA MVP

As we have worked our way through the the middle of November, we have seen some movement along the betting lines for the 2015-16 NBA MVP thus far. What hasn’t change, however, is the fact that Stephen Curry is a huge, huuuuuuge favorite to win this year’s award.

Here are the current betting odds on SkyBet for the top 10 players, as they see it, for the NBA MVP:

11-to-10: Stephen Curry (33.7 ppg, 5.9 apg, 4.8 rpg)

4-to-1: LeBron James (27.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 6.1 apg)

7-to-1: Russell Westbrook (28.1 ppg, 10.4 apg, 7.8 rpg)

8-to-1: Kevin Durant (28.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3.0 apg)

10-to-1: Anthony Davis (22.7 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.4 bpg)

10-to-1: James Harden (28.8 ppg, 6.3 apg, 6.2 rpg)

12-to-1: Blake Griffin (26.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 4.3 apg)

16-to-1: Kawhi Leonard (21.4 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.9 spg)

28-to-1: Chris Paul (15.7 ppg, 8.0 apg, 3.6 rpg)

40-to-1: Damian Lillard (25.1 ppg, 6.7 apg, 4.1 rpg)

Note: Boldface font means the player leads the league in this category (per game)

Much like last year, this award seems to be Steph Curry’s to lose; however, and again like last year’s MVP race, I would expect Westbrook to put up better numbers across the board, except for in scoring (which Westbrook did lead the league in last season).

Because of individual stats, mixed with team record, I would rank the top three as so:

  1. Steph Curry
  2. Russell Westbrook
  3. LeBron James

Of course, if Kevin Durant comes back to the Thunder healthy, and plays most of the season that way, I think he will ultimately hurt Westbrook’s chances.

What do you think? Will anybody de-throne King Curry as this year’s NBA MVP? Let us know in the comment section below!
