Flip Saunders Passes Away At Age 60

President of Basketball Operations, Head Coach, and minority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves Flip Saunders has passed away at the age of 60 after a long battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He announced in August that he was being treated for a “very treatable and curable” form of the cancer. He suffered some setbacks in September and it was announced on Friday that he would miss the entire season.

Flip was the Timberwolves. He was first brought on as General Manager of the team in 1995 and was later named Head Coach later than year. Along with Kevin Garnett, he helped guide the team to its first ever playoff berth, winning season, and a Western Conference Finals birth in 2004. After spending time in both Detroit and Washington DC, he returned to Minnesota as President of Basketball Operations and named himself head coach in 2014.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by anyone that was close to the team that he meant so much to.
