Gerald Henderson Exercises Player Option For 2015-16

Charlotte Hornets general manager Rich Cho announced today that Gerald Henderson has exercised his player option for the 2015-16 season.

Last season Henderson played a team-high 80 games while averaging 12.1 points-per-game, 3.4 rebounds-per-game, and 2.6 assists-per-game. With Lance Stephenson in town during the 2014-15 season, Henderson’s scoring totals took a slight dip after averaging  14 PPG in the 2013-14 season. Now that Stephenson has been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, Henderson will have a bigger opportunity to put the ball in the basket.

Throughout his career with the Hornets, Henderson has averaged 12 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 2.1 APG. One part of the 27-year-old’s game that needs work done is his ability to shoot the three. During his time in the league, Henderson has shot a dismal 30% from beyond the arc. His inability to shoot the three is something the Hornets are accustomed to, during the 2014-15 season the team ranked dead last in three-point percentage, shooting 31%.

After missing out on the playoffs during the 2014-15 season, Gerald Henderson and the Charlotte Hornets are looking to bounce back next season.
