Report: Bulls could fire Thibodeau after vacancies are filled

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, there is growing fear that the Bulls will fire Tom Thibodeau once other coaching vacancies are filled.

However, Thibodeau might be prepared to counter this by sitting out next season rather than helping the Bulls and being traded for a compensation pick.

From Mark Carman of FanSided:

“Speculation about Thibodeau being traded is just that. There is a feeling amongst insiders that Thibodeau will “not allow himself to be traded” to help the Bulls and will wait to be fired even if it means waiting and missing out on the current openings.”

If this report is true, it seems like the Bulls would settle for leftovers after the Pelicans, Magic and Nuggets hire their preferred candidates. Chicago wants Fred Hoiberg from Iowa State but its still not certain he would leave for the NBA.

But as of right now, the standoff continues in Chicago.
