Joel Embiid Update

Before the 2014 NBA Draft, Joel Embiid had surgery for broken navicular bone in his foot. That did not stop the Philadelphia 76ers from drafting the Cameroonian native with the third overall pick. Despite being ruled out for four-to-six months, the Kansas product missed the entire 2014-15 season. Even though Embiid did not play a minute for the Sixers, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey kept us updated on Embiid’s status throughout the season.

Seeing Joel Embiid get on the court may be a good sign in Philadelphia. Foot injuries are a big deal when it comes to big men, so it was understandable why the 76ers did not rush Embiid back from his injury. Take a look at Yao Ming, who had a few great years before suffering a broken bone in his left foot in 2006. Foot and ankle injuries eventually affected Ming’s career. If Embiid can stay healthy, the Sixers may have a dangerous front court pairing with Nerlens Noel. The rookie center will see some action during the Summer League in Orlando this July.
